The Guru’s Sunday Broadcast: THE NIGERIAN OIL CARTEL IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN DEVIL

President Bola Tinubu

Tomorrow, Monday, of September 9, 2024, is going to be another glorious and exciting day at the studio of Lagos Talks 91.3 fm, as The Guru comes on air, by 0930 hours. Yes, so shall it be, as the man comes typically, in his usual character, decoding some of those Nigerian naughty topical issues – with in-depth analysis and revelations.

Tomorrow might even be coming heavier, because of the turbulent waters we have been sailing through in our country for the past few months.

It is through that the present government, under President Bola Tinubu, has not given Nigerians much respite since May 29, 2023, when he – the president, landed the ground running, albeit with some most dangerous steps.

For example, withdrawal of oil subsidy and floating of the Nigerian Naira did not pave a golden path for the President, though he did not intend to pass any golden route into his “Kingdom”.

Either he intended passing through the “path of gold” to his destiny or not, wasn’t the disaster of what he said on May 29th, of 2023. Instead, President Bola Tinubu committed two direct identifiable blunders on that day.

One, it was not true when he said that the Budget he inherited “has no oil subsidy”. That was far from truth, because that Budget that was passed over to him, by his predecessor, had subsidy provision inbuilt till June 30, 2023.

The Budget he inherited, if he had cared to know that day, was a budget debated, appropriated and passed by the National Assembly, before his predecessor signed it into Law. Why President Bola Tinubu chose to tell that small lie would have been better known to him alone.

But suffice to point out that many Nigerian confidences on the new president – Bola Tinubu, since that day he was sworn-in, became eroded because of that little lie.

Majority of Nigerians took a decision of keeping far from him due to that singular blunder of lying. To this Group, they concluded that the man must have some cynic reason of boldly lying against the Budget when he had just finished being sworn-in as President, with the 1999 Nigerian Constitution. You may not want to blame this group of people too much,

The second blunder of that day – when he was sworn-in as president, was the floating of the Naira. If he had consulted with seasoned Economists, he would have been told that doing that would automatically triple Nigeria’s debt value, and that would bring catastrophe into the Nigerian money marketplace. But because he did not consulted, he was not appropriately guided.

It must have been for these reasons, amongst many others; like wasteful style of living by all political leaders while telling the citizens to “endure”, ostentatious living, absolute corruption etc etc, further put a wide gulf between leaders and the led.

However, events of the past few days, bordering on lies on subsidy payment by the federal government, coming to fruition of the Dangote Refinery and the unwillingness of the Federal Government to let it breath, a moribund national entity called NNPCL telling Nigeria and Nigerians that they can never enjoy from Dangote Refinery finished work, and price increase on PMS [Petrol], have further widen the gap between the Nigerian people and their government.

This becomes the main matter for discussion tomorrow, under the scientific supervision of The Guru in the studio.

One thing for sure, and which is under the radar of Nigerians, is the fact that lying, or trading falsehood with the people has become an exclusive prerogative of Government officials in dealing the Nigerian people.

If you are in doubt of the above statement, tune your radio to Lagos Talks 91.3 fm, as from 0930 hours, tomorrow.
